Some Odd Girl Blog Hop!

In January I took a trip out to California for the Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show. I drove down from Utah with the awesome ladies from Freckled Fawn. We had an amazing time at the show, it was such a learning experience.

One of the best parts of the show was meeting lots of awesome new people. Our booth buddies, Some Odd Girl Stamps, were fun and helpful and gave me a whole new found respect for coloring. Today the Freckled Fawn and Some Odd Girl Design Teams are having a joint blog hop to share some spring inspiration.

HELLO, Odd friends! So glad you’ve joined us, because today is a very special day for us at Freckled Fawn! We had a lot of fun with our hall neighbors at CHA in Anaheim this past January, and today, we are REUNITED!

A Freckled and Odd hop!

Fawnies and Oddies share the stage, mix up products and bring the WOW with a fun blog hop that runs now through Monday, May 5th at midnight EDT! See how cute and quirky stamps pair up with sweet and darling embellishments as you hop along, and be sure to leave a comment at each stop because there will be two winners! Each will get a fabulous prize from BOTH Some Odd Girl and Freckled Fawn!

You might have arrived here from Alexis’s blog; if so, you’re on the right track! If not, you can get started at the Freckled Fawn blog.

April Showers bring May Flowers

I’m a storyteller at heart. First and foremost I love documenting my life. That seems to change forms every so often. Right now I’m really into Project Life, mini albums, and I’ve just gotten really into creating 8×6 layouts. I recently started a new all about me album, in which I have no rules and I create just for me, and this little page will fit in perfectly. This page was created entirely with stamps and embellishments — no patterned paper.

I started by making my little lady. Her name is Gwen and she is from the Umbrella Gwen stamp set.  I stamped her with StazOn Jet Black Ink (so she wouldn’t bleed) onto a white sheet of cardstock and colored her in with some markers before cutting her out with a sharp pair of scissors.

I created the background of my layout by stamping  the clouds and raindrop stamps (again with StazOn) from the Umbrella Gwen set. I added vellum alphas from the OhDeerMe April Kit and doodled around it to make my title. In the upper left hand corner I added a Freckled Fawn ‘Love’ paperclip with a strip of washi underneath for contrast. I colored in the clouds with a grey marker to give them a little bit of contrast and added my journaling in the lower left hand corner of the page.

Sometimes a layout doesn’t even need a photo to tell a story. Sometimes I want my story to be told with stamps and coloring. Sometimes I want to skip the patterned paper. Let storytelling be whatever you want it to be.

Here is your hop list… Feel free to hop at your own pace over the next few days but be sure not to miss anybody, because our winners will be randomly drawn from ANY of the blogs along the hop! Ready? Here we go!
