So I’ve recently started Project Life-ing on a weekly basis again. If you’re new to Project Life, it’s a pocket page memory-keeping system designed by Becky Higgins, which has now become ubiquitous throughout the scrapbooking community.

To document my weekly pocket page spreads, I’m using a 9×12 album from Studio Calico. I’m in love with this size. I was originally doing the 9×12 size a few years back by modifying 12×12 size page protectors, and I’m glad to be back working in this size. I’m a huge fan of the 9-pocket spreads — using all 3×4 cards feels very right for me. I think about 95% of this album will be with 9-pocket spreads. Although these 3×3 pockets are super cute and perfect for insta-size stuff as well.

Left Side:

  • Summary: I spent a lot of time in the studio this week. It was the first week of spring-light, and I just had a huge itch to organize as much as I could.
  • This side is all 3×4 pockets.
  • I cut a 4×6 photo in half to fill the bottom left pockets.
  • The hashtag is a plastic die-cut from last month’s Studio Calico PL kit
  • For the center pocket, I trimmed a photo of my desk organizer and used it as a bridge between two patterns.

Right Side:

  • Summary: J+I went to a Magic the Gathering pre-release tournament with our friend at a card shop in Lansing. We spent most of the day there and came home happy and exhausted.
  • This side is all 3×3 pockets.
  • I really liked a few of my instagram photos from this event, and so I was drawn to the square pocket page.
  • I cut down a few 3×4 cards to fit in the 3×3 pockets.
  • I cut down memorabilia from the event to fit inside one of the pockets.
  • Most of my photos are in black and white due to the bad lighting at the event. It’s like my oldest trick — if the photos have weird color, just change them to black and white — then they’ll match everything.

Favorite part of this spread: The see-through pocket on the magic page. I made it by adding star confetti to the center pocket and then sewing it shut and adding a cardstock sticker to the top.

Are you a Project Lifer?

As a woman, telling your story is a powerful and radical act. I tell my story with personal photos, colorful paper, and unique memorabilia. This is my platform for teaching modern-day scrapbooking and helping women document their awesome-lady lives.

  • Love the blind box card leveling from the tournament! That’s a brilliant idea.

I want to do project life more but I love my layouts & I feel somewhat guilty scrapbooking the same pictures twice. I know it’s my scrapbook so I can do what I want but still. ;)

I love you PL spreads. :)

I love your 9×12 spreads! This is so cute. I went to the pre-release as well and took tons of pictures, thinking “maaannn it’s gonna be fun to put all of this stuff in my album!” and I love how your page turned out! I also enjoyed the Saturday night vibe way more than Fridays. I love the see-through confetti pocket you added, I might have to do that myself!
