We believe you are a capable BADASS, who already has all the tools you need to make beautiful things and make beautiful things happen. We’re just here to remind you.
Amanda and I met in 2012 at a papercrafts workshop in NYC hosted by Kelly Purkey and The Ink Pad. We kept in touch through the magic of the internet, Instagram, and blogging. When Amanda left her job over the summer to spread her wings — I reached out and said, Hey, it’s tough out there for us solo-crafty lady entrepreneurs, I’m here if you want to chat, collab, or whatevs.
Amanda replied back — and was like, I’ve been thinking about one word…PODCAST; what do you think? And I was like, hell yes — let’s do this thing.
For the past few months, we’ve been putting together the Crafty Ass Female podcast. We’re here to explore what it means to be a crafty ass female in today’s world.
We’re just two regular girls trying to make our mark on the crafty world. We’re not backed by huge companies, we don’t have employees, or fancy equipment. It’s just us, our talent, our brains, some hard ass work, and the magic of internet technology.
We are both so super pumped to be sharing our dialog with the world, can’t wait for you to listen, and most of all, we’re dying to hear what you have to say back. Crafty Ass Female is not just about the two of us. It’s about every crafty girl out there who knows she’s a friggin badass and is craving some of that yasss girl conversation in her creative life.
In Episode One, Amanda and I chat about the Crafty Ass Female origin story. We share the story of how we met (thanks to KP and dads who drive us into Manhattan) and discuss our hopes, dreams, and goals for the show.
In Episodes Two and Three we dive deep into our personal backstories. Amanda and I each have our own special double episode highlighting how we got to this moment in our Crafty Ass Female life story.
My episode (Episode Three) is a tight 60 minutes. I get super vulnerable, super excited, and just snarky enough. I talk openly and honestly about a lot of things, including my struggle with two overlapping headache disorders, moving halfway across the country and away from all my friends and family, and why I think it’s insanely important for women to tell their own stories.
Also, you’ll get to listen to me — apparently I have an accent and I’m also funny. It’s much easier for me to be funny when I’m talking out loud. There isn’t a backspace button for me to get all self-conscious about and then delete all my hilarious words (also tone?).
But if you’ve ever wanted to know anything/everything about me. I talk about myself a lot. Like for an hour. For an introvert like me, to talk about herself for an hour, then listen to it multiple times, and then still be willing to send it out to the rest of the world; well, I’m pretty proud of it. And I’d love for you to take a listen.
Episode Four drops on Monday, where Amanda and I will be chatting about Ali Edwards’ One Little Word project, our words for 2018, and how this project has been a meaningful part of our lives for so many years.
