In late 2012, I was playing around with the idea of a weekly journaling introspective that was super easy to complete. I created a simple journaling card with the prompts already listed. Each week I grab a card and spend just a few minutes filling it out.
Over the past year, the #CurrentlyList community has exploded on instagram and in our brand new facebook group. Today I am excited to have Lauren Hooper from This Handmade Circus here to share her Currently List!

Crafting has been my passion since I was a little girl. I had every art kit you could imagine. From Light Brights to Spirographs to My Art Spinner. Remember those?! I loved hand making any and everything I could and still do. When I was in elementary school my mom starting creating intricate and inspired scrapbook pages. So of course I did too! But, as all kids do, I got too busy to make pages and record life. Then, I saw the movie UP and everything changed. I left the theatre in tears, determined to record our life. Note: This was before Pinterest. I began experimenting and I found a whole new style. I found my voice. Then with Pinterest and blogs bursting onto the scene, inspiration and resources were at my finger tips and revolutionized my techniques and style! Especially the Currently Journaling Challenge!
I am a creature of change. I am constantly evolving my interests, my favorite foods, my design style, the type of books and movies I like, my great inner conflict of white space versus explosions of color. I want to record this. I need to record this. And Kristin’s journaling cards have given me exactly what I needed! I am a traditional, black and white girl. Everything matches the original cards and I am so in love with the new squares! You can accent them with Project Life cards, pretty papers, Washi tape and stamps to add a pop of color to match your project or pages. I keep a stack of the 3×4’s and squares on hand and fill them out whenever the mood hits, about once a month, and include them in my Project Life spread for that week. I try to always include a date stamp and handwrite them for ease. I am a tried and true original, Micron pen lover. These cards freeze a small window of time and force me to put my feelings and interests into a few concise words that are just enough to jog my memory and illicit nostalgia. Once Ive completed a card I add them to my Project Life spread and share them on my blog, instagram and in the Currently Facebook community.[divider_double]
Hi! I’m Lauren. I’m in my mid-twenties. I’m married to a hilarious piano player and I am a social worker by day and crafter by every free possible second of the night. We are born-and-breed southerners who are planning to move to Seoul, South Korea for teaching jobs this summer. I love all kinds of DIY and traveling. I share cheap travel tips from our adventures and then share the scrapbooks I make from them. Stop by the blog and see more of my currently cards in use in my Project Life, then be my friend on instagram and take lots of #whereistand pictures!
