Meg Woolston’s 3 Right-Now Facts

  1. I got a haircut recently, and still find myself trying to toss my phantom long hair out of the way before pulling on jackets, backpacks, etc.
  2. I am totally craving a peanut butter banana smoothie right now!
  3. Being cold exhausts me, so I’m excited about the new-found energy that’s coming along with the warming temperatures.

Hi Meg! Thanks so much for joining us for this week’s Thursday3!

Tell us a little bit about who you are:

I’m 32, married, living in the Washington DC area, but my heart will always be in Michigan where I lived most of my life. I’m a big fan of memory keeping, Doctor Who, dark beer, and apparently reading half of a book before setting it aside to start a new one (a habit I’m trying to break!). I also love to sing, just not in front of other people! Oh, and my first time in an airplane was for a flight halfway around the world. My second time in an airplane, I jumped out of it.

What makes you an Awesome Lady?

It may be the former teacher in me, or it may have slowly developed from growing up in a super-conservative borderline-judgmental small town from which I’m glad to have escaped, but I believe in the power of open-mindedness, empathy, and letting everyone’s voice not only be heard, but be sought to be understood. If I have anything close to a superpower, I’d like to think it’s my ability to see situations from multiple angles. While people will never agree on everything, I think it’s critical to at least attempt to understand where others are coming from. To me, awesome ladies are those who stand up for what they believe in with conviction, but also with respect for differing beliefs and opinions. The words of another awesome lady, Hayley Williams of Paramore, sum up my beliefs perfectly: “It’s just my humble opinion, but it’s one that I believe in. You don’t deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.” I’m constantly challenging myself to live by these words so that at least when I do disagree with someone, I’m understanding what it is that I disagree with, not just being stubborn.

Thank you so much for sharing your right now story with us! Where we can find you?

I’m a bit of a “Jill-of-all-social-medias, master of none,” but I’m most consistently able to be found on my blog and on Instagram. I also have an Etsy shop where I sell digital/printable scrapbook designs. And if you’re into memory keeping, you should definitely sign up for my newsletter so you can get my free eBook with outside-the-box ideas for telling your story!
