I’ve got this amazing group of friends in my life – hugely creative, inventive, interesting, intelligent, compassionate, loving people – and I wanted to ask them about where they’re at right now, at the end of this particular year.
I didn’t want to ask them for reams of introspective prose, or to give me a blow by blow of their year, I just wanted to use a couple of simple prompts to capture a few sentences about their immediate present.
First I prepared a bunch of cards by painting a watercolour streak at the top, and then hand lettering the name of each friend over it. I then selected three stamps from the for each friend, and asked them to let me know their answers. That’s something I’ll bear in mind for next year.
I then paired each person’s answers up with a favourite photo of them from the year, and organized the lot in a . I didn’t want to over embellish these spreads, because the words are the important part, but I couldn’t ignore the urge to give each person a . I love my squad, and I show it with glitter.
Last of all, I made a super minimal title page, with another watercolour streak, and the year stamped with the . The overall look is loose, natural, and cohesive, and I really love this little keepsake.
