The new Awesome Ladies Project Monthly Storytelling Workshop: Food, opened earlier this week. After creating a few page spreads in my Book of Me album telling a few of my favorite everyday food stories. I was inspired to create a food commonplace album to hold my food-related stories for November and December.
Food is such an essential part of my story during the holiday season. We’re always hosting a dinner party or two. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Feast of the Seven Fishes. There are so many fun holiday foods that we love to make — cookies, breads, and other baked goods.
I don’t ever really get around to documenting them because I’m a total picture snob — and the light here sucks in November and December and I almost never have pictures that are ‘good enough’ to scrapbook my everyday holiday food stories.
This year I decided to make a food commonplace album, giving myself the space to document the food stories as they happen, and not waiting around for pretty pictures.
I’ll be adding recipes, grocery lists, meal ideas and more.
I got extremely excited while creating this book. It’s absolutely one of the best things I’ve put together in a while. It turned out awesome and had me bursting with so much to say.
As I was going through the process, I realized that one of my essential tools (my six-hole punch) was not working properly. I made a change, switched things up and you’ll see my entire process in the video below!
You can join us in the Awesome Ladies Food Storytelling Workshop to get started on your own food stories today. You’ll get a storytelling workbook, overview video, prompts, access to our private forum and gallery and more. This was one of my favorite themes and I can’t wait to see your food-related stories as well!
After putting together the album, I added a few more inside pages to fill out my album. I came across a fun set of older October Afternoon papers that went perfectly inside this album, so I cut a couple extra 5×8 sheets of patterned paper and added them to the album.
