In late 2012, I was playing around with the idea of a weekly journaling introspective. I wanted it to be simple and easy to complete.
The approach I went with was to create a journaling challenge that used the same seven prompts each week. To make it even easier, I created a simple journaling card with the prompts already listed. Each week I grab a card and spend just a few minutes filling it out.
I use the journaling cards each week — usually the original black, but sometimes I switch it up and use one of the color of the month cards.
To remind myself to fill out a card, I set an alarm on my phone for 3pm every Friday afternoon. I’m usually at my craft table on Friday afternoon, so I find that it’s a pretty good time to reflect on what’s going on right now and what’s happened over the past week.
There’s no right or wrong way to do the Currently Journaling Challenge, I fill out a physical journaling card each week — there are lots of people who put their own twist on the challenge and make it work for them. The goal is to spend five minutes telling your right-now story — how you do it is totally up to you.
My favorite part about the Currently List Journaling Challenge is sharing my list and getting into fun conversations with friends about what we’re all doing right now. It’s fun to see who’s reading what, and who’s watching the same TV shows or listening to the same music. It’s a great way to meet new friends and keep connected with a community that reaches around the world.
